Okay, I will admit I am not one for military museums, but this one is AWESOME!! First, it's free, which is always a nice find. But, on top of that, it has many interactive exhibits for children, including a basic training pathway for young recruits to try. Find more information here: https://www.usmcmuseum.com

This museum is a private-public collaboration which brings the best of the Marine Corps to light from the first beginnings through current day conflicts and service and is situated beside Marine Corps Base Quantico. It is a clean, well mapped out museum with exhibits that are so life like that you would swear you were directly in the experience. Its highlights include individual soldiers, the Marine Corps in general, and even some of the best known animal companions during war throughout the years. To be honest, my son and I spent a whole week seeing sites around DC, and this ranked in his top two experiences.

This distinctive façade of the building is reminiscent of the Iwo Jima memorial raising of the flag.

The large central hall has several life sized exhibits that are well kept and gorgeously arranged. Like I said, I am not easily impressed by military museums, but this one rocks!

Walking around the other exhibit halls takes you through every conflict that the Marines have served chronologically.
